A calorimetric study of the copolymerization of acrylates with methacr
ylates irradiated with gamma-rays was carried out. The addition of met
hacrylates at a mole content of 5 - 10% sharply changes the kinetic pa
rameters of the radical polymerization of acrylates. In hydrocarbon mo
nomers, the gel effect is observed for all ratios of comonomers, where
as it decreases in fluorine-containing monomers with an increase in th
e methacrylate content in the mixture; in equimolar mixtures, the effe
ct is absent. The addition of methacrylate at a mole content of 30% an
d above suppresses the formation of crosslinked structures, and the co
polymer formed is practically soluble.
