A kinetic model for the description of the processes of formation and
decay of O(P3) atoms and O2(a1DELTA(g)) molecules in a positive column
of a dc discharge in O2 is suggested. The model is based on a combine
d solution to equations for chemical kinetics and the Boltzmann equati
on for electrons. Experimental concentrations of O(P3) and O2(a1DELTA(
g)) are described well by this m el for pressures within 26 - 655 Pa a
nd discharge currents within 10 - 80 mA.
