The six positional isomers of (n)-di-O-alpha-D-galactopyranosylcycloma
ltohexaose (alpha-cyclodextrin, alpha CD, n = 1-6), which were produce
d from alpha CD and melibiose by transgalactosylation with coffee bean
alpha-galactosidase, were isolated by HPLC on a reversed-phase column
and a graphitized carbon column. The structures of those isomers were
elucidated by LC-MS analyses of enzymatic degradation products with c
yclomaltodextrin glucanotransferase and alpha-galactosidase. (C) 1997
