EFFECT OF CONTOURED SLOTS ON FIBER PASSAG E - INVESTIGATIONS BY MEANSOF A MODEL SCREEN

A channel-type model screen was developed that is supposed to simulate the processes which occur at the screen orifices in pressure screens. The apparatus is suitable for fundamental investigations as well as f or experiments to be carried out rapidly. Differently contoured slot g eometries are tested in order to study the effect of fiber passage and fiber stapling depending on flow velocities and fiber properties. Qua litative assessment for commercial application can be performed based on the experimental findings obtained.
