Abstract
A microsporidium isolated in vitro from urine of an AIDS patient was i dentified as a species of Encephalitozoon. Investigation of the isolat e by electron microscopy, amplification of DNA by RAPD PCR, protein an alysis by SDS-PAGE and Western blotting and infectivity to athymic mic e revealed that it differs from established species of the genus.
