Abstract
Reaction of the dioxygen complex [Ir(C7H4NS2)(O2)(CO)(PPh3)2] (C7H4NS2 = benzothiazole-2-thiolate) with SO2 produces the unprecedented incor poration of the carbonyl group into the benzothiazole-2-thiolate ligan d through the heterocyclic nitrogen, in addition to the oxidation to s ulfate, yielding [Ir{C(O)NC(S)SC6H4}(SO4)-(PPh3)2].
