Abstract
In the presence of FeCl3, organochlorine compounds were produced durin g paper combustion, including chlorinated alkenes, benzenes and phenol s. When potassium carbonate was added to the paper/FeCl3 mixture, the yield of chlorinated products decreased but their molecular size incre ased.
