Pa. Jensen et al., LOCAL MEASUREMENTS OF VELOCITY, TEMPERATURE AND GAS-COMPOSITION IN A PULVERIZED-COAL FLAME, Journal of the Institute of Energy, 67(470), 1994, pp. 37-46
A 1.3 MW swirl-stabilised pulverised-coal flame has been mapped with r
espect to velocity, temperature, gas concentrations and local particle
composition. Velocities were measured non-intrusively by Laser Dopple
r anemometer, and the other parameters were measured by water-cooled p
robes; all the measurements were performed on Riso's pulverised-coal-f
ired horizontal tunnel furnace. The applicability and accuracy of LDA
measurements in a coal flame have also been investigated. The experime
nts have resulted in a comprehensive set of measuring data giving a go
od impression of the anatomy of a swirl-stabilised coal flame. The dat
a are also well-suited to the verification of numerical models of flam
es.
