S. Heron et A. Tchapla, CHOICE OF STATIONARY AND MOBILE PHASES FO R SEPARATION OF MIXED TRIGLYCERIDES BY LIQUID-PHASE CHROMATOGRAPHY, Analusis, 22(3), 1994, pp. 114-126
A systematic study of retention of homogenous saturated and unsaturate
d triglycerides has been made on different stationary phases (octadecy
l, phenyl, mixed C18-CN bonded silicas) with various non-aqueous binar
y and ternary mobile phases. It allowed to determine optimal and simpl
e conditions of analysis of mixed triglycerides in fats or oils. The u
se of combined optimization criteria to judge the quality of an entire
chromatogram leads to propose the use of one column with polymeric be
havior, with a binary and isocratic mobile phase (MeCN/CH2Cl2). The tr
iglyceride composition being complex, the entire identification requir
ed fuller studies of the oils and fats by mass spectrometry/gas chroma
tography and mass spectrometry/liquid chromatography.
