Swollen conidia derived from Trichoderma reesei QM 6a were treated wit
h 0.1% (w/v) colchicine solution in order to form hyperpolyploids. Man
y sectors were generated from colonies of the hyperpolyploids after be
nlate treatment. Cellulase hyper-producers were selected using Avicel
layer solid medium among conidia generated on sectors. In the strain B
111, Avicel, cellulose powder, CMC-Na, and salicin hydrolysing activit
ies were 2.2, 1.7, 26.4, and 4.8 times higher, respectively, than thos
e of the original strain. It is suggested that hyperpolyploids of this
fungus may contribute to the formation of cellulase hyper-producing s
trains.
