Abstract
In the present article we review the main research works in fuzzy data bases; propose an extension of relation division operator to fuzzy dat abases; provide a model for fuzzy information and resolve the identifi cation problem in fuzzy databases. For this, three notions are relevan t: (a) the concept of nuanced information for representing fuzzy value s and the associated nuance, (b) the nuanced division operator, (c) th e possibility of weighting attributes in order to express data and que ry pertinence and trust. We then show how to resolve the problem of fu zzy identification with the nuanced division operator. (C) 1994 John W iley & Sons, Inc.
