I. Vetharaniam et Ge. Stedman, ACCELERATED OBSERVERS - SYNCHRONIZATION AND TESTS OF LOCAL LORENTZ INVARIANCE, Classical and quantum gravity, 11(4), 1994, pp. 1069-1082
A preferred-frame test theory formulated for accelerated frames is obt
ained by adapting the differential geometric analysis of an accelerate
d observer. This analysis explicitly incorporates the conventionality
of the one-way speed of light resulting from the freedom in clock sync
hronization, allowing a discussion of the role of synchrony in test th
eories. The Sagnac effect is investigated within the test theory, enab
ling the use of a precision ring laser to bound parameters of the theo
ry and thus to test local Lorentz invariance.
