Background: Monoclonal antibody 148 is a murine monoclonal anti-glycop
horin B that preferentially reacts with S+ human red cells. Study Desi
gn and Methods: Serologic and immunochemical studies were performed us
ing red cells with various phenotypes. Results: These studies reveal t
hat this monoclonal antibody is unusual in that it fails to agglutinat
e S+ TSEN+ red cells and agglutinates S- St(a+) and S- Dantu+ red cell
s. Conclusion: These results allow the prediction of the glycophorin c
omposition of GP.Hop (Mi.IV) red cells.
