SOLVATION - FROM SMALL TO MACRO MOLECULES

A short description of the role of solvation in biochemical processes is presented here. Starting with the general definition of the solvati on process, I show how difficult it becomes to apply this concept to m acromolecules. Some attempts at studying solvation phenomena of large molecules - such as proteins - in terms of their constituent groups ar e critically reviewed.
