Abstract
The biosynthesis of valclavan was investigated by feeding radiolabelle d potential precursors to fermentations of Streptomyces antibioticus s sp antibioticus Tu 1718. The preliminary results indicate that the pri mary metabolic precursors of valclavam are L-valine, L-arginine. L-met hionine and a 3-C pool metabolite and suggest a common biosynthetic or igin for clavulanic acid and valclavam.
