Constructs used to compare competitiveness in Mexican-Americans and An
glo-Americans have employed a unidimensional and possibly biased defin
ition of competitiveness. In this study, 55 Mexican-Americans at three
levels of schooling were surveyed to examine competition by a more co
mprehensive standard including the relationship between acculturation
and competitiveness. Previous findings depicting Mexican-Americans as
noncompetitive when compared to Anglo-Americans were not supported
