Intermittent fever, anorexia, and lethargy may be associated with ehrl
ichiosis in cats. Presumptive diagnosis may be made on the basis of de
tection of clusters of gram-negative organisms in mononuclear cells, d
etection of antibodies against Ehrlichia canis and E risticii in serum
, and response to treatment with doxycycline.
