Abstract
The interaction of the VO2+ cation with adenosine, guanosine, inosine, cytidine, thymidine and uridine has been investigated spectrophotomet rically in a wide pH-range and at 1.2 and 1:10 metal to nucleoside rat ios. In acidic and nearly neutral media no interactions are observed b ut at pH-values above 9.0 the cation interacts with all nucleosides, e xcept thymidine, through adjacent deprotonated hydroxyl groups of the ribose moieties.
