This article, part of a nationwide study, presents data from interview
s with 29 foreign-born adoptees and their adoptive parents (n = 23) li
ving in several Northeastern states. Demographic characteristics of th
e adoptees are described, and the adoptees' responses to selected open
-ended questions dealing with psychosocial adjustment; relationships w
ith adoptive parents, siblings, and extended families; school performa
nce; friendship patterns; social activities; and future ambitions are
examined.
