Abstract
Laser tempering of steels and alloys is an ecologically clean and high ly efficient technology that induces localized hardening in surface re gions over several square millimeters at a minimum component thickness . These laser treatment characteristics are employed for hardening med ical cutting instruments fabricated from corrosion resistant steels.
