Abstract
The feedback controllers used in the pulp and paper industry include: proportional-integral (PI) control, the Smith predictor, the modified Smith predictor, the Dahlin algorithm, and the IMC controller. Regulat or performance of these controllers is examined, in particular, bandwi dth and resonance. From the point of view of regulation, the performan ce of the PI regulator compares well with that of the deadtime compens ators, except for the presence of higher resonance as the bandwidth is increased.
