A. Owens et al., ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TOTAL ELECTRON PHOTOYIELD AND X-RAY-ABSORPTION COEFFICIENT, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section A, Accelerators, spectrometers, detectors and associated equipment, 385(3), 1997, pp. 556-558
We have tested the hypotheses that the total electron photoyield and X
-ray absorption coefficient are simply related and that the drain curr
ent method can then be reliably used to derive absorption coefficients
. By comparing gold photocurrent measurements taken at the Daresbury S
ynchrotron Radiation Source (SRS) with experimentally derived linear a
bsorption coefficients in the same energy band, we find that the expec
ted relationship is accurate over the range 2200-3500 eV to a precisio
n of a few percent.
