Approximately four-fifths of divorced individuals will remarry (Glick,
1984). Yet, the divorce rate for remarriages is higher than the divor
ce rate for first-time marrieds. This would suggest that there are a n
umber of problem areas for remarrieds, problem areas which might be al
leviated or reduced by adequate counseling prior to the remarriage tak
ing place. This paper will examine topical areas to be considered for
inclusion when developing a marital-preparation program for previously
married individuals.
