An acoustic field model through the sediment in slight depth is presen
ted. The method is based on the stratification of homogeneous media to
simulate the geoacoustic properties in sediment environment. The acou
stic field model is calculated from an acoustic array antenna which us
es focalization for transmission and reception. The beam wave model in
cludes the direct ray and all reflexion rays. Different studies in str
atified media solved this problem by using a matrix formalism [1] or a
finite difference method. Here we use a binary algorithm. In a preced
ing study [2], we have valided the antenna model with experimental dat
a in the simple case of water. The results are presented for two posit
ions of antenna and for two sediments. The map pictures obtained are i
n good agreement with the physical phenomenom.
