ATM-BASED SIGNALING NETWORK TOPICS ON RELIABILITY AND PERFORMANCE

In our paper, we consider some reliability and performance aspects of ATM-based signaling networks. We will present ideas how ATM technology , suitable system concepts, as well as simplified and enhanced protoco ls could maintain or even improve the reliability level of the existin g Common Channel Signaling System No. 7. We also discuss possible scen arios for the interworking of ATM-based signaling networks with existi ng signaling networks. The second major aspect, which we will discuss, is performance enhancement in terms of reduced delays and increased t hroughput due to the ATM signaling connections with higher bit rates a nd protocol simplifications.
