Abstract
The kinetics of oxidation of NaHSO3 by NCP in the presence of perchlor ic acid in aq. alcohol have been investigated. The reaction is first o rder each in [NCP] and [H+] and zero order m [HSO3-]. No primary salt effect is observed. While added Cl- enhances the rate of oxidation, ad dition of > NH compound is found to retard the reaction. A plausible m echanism has been proposed.
