Abstract
Template condensation of alpha-diketones such as 2,3-butanedione or be nzil with 1,8-diamino-3,6-diazaoctane in the presence of Cr(III), Fe(I II) and Co(II) results in the formation of macrocyclic complexes of th e type [MLX2]X and [CoLX]X (where M = Cr(III), Fe(III), L = N4 macrocy cle and X = NO3- or Cl-). The complexes have been characterized by ele mental analyses, conductance and magnetic measurements, molecular weig ht determinations, infrared and diffuse reflectance spectral studies.
