M. Iuchtman et al., GIANT ADRENAL CYST IN THE NEWBORN - PERINATAL DIAGNOSIS AND MANAGEMENT, European journal of pediatric surgery, 4(2), 1994, pp. 122-124
Routine ultrasound examination in a pregnant 20-year-old woman at 32 w
eeks demonstrated a cystic structure in the fetal abdomen. Follow-up t
ill term showed no substantial change in size. After birth the cyst co
uld easily be palpated as an epigastric mass. Ultrasonography followed
by a barium meal suggested, among other things, the diagnosis of gast
ric duplication. At exploratory laparotomy the cyst proved to be of ad
renal origin. The diagnosis and therapeutic options are discussed.
