Abstract
We propose to use the discontinuity at total reflection as an experime ntal test of the universal critical adsorption profile. Neutron optica l properties corresponding to the cross over state are derived from th e wave equation, and exact results are displayed. They indicate that t he critical index can be derived from experimental data, at a reasonab le vicinity of the critical temperature.
