Ta. Tucker et al., ABSORPTION AND TRANSLOCATION OF C-14 IMAZAPYR AND C-14 GLYPHOSATE IN ALLIGATORWEED ALTERNANTHERA-PHILOXEROIDES, Weed technology, 8(1), 1994, pp. 32-36
The absorption and translocation of the isopropylamine salts of C-14-g
lyphosate and C-14-imazapyr were compared in established terrestrial a
lligatorweed. Results indicated that more than twice as much imazapyr
as glyphosate was absorbed by treated leaves of alligatorweed. In addi
tion, more imazapyr was translocated to the underground storage tissue
s in alligatorweed than was glyphosate. This difference in translocati
on to roots and subterranean storage tissues is proposed as a mechanis
m for tolerance of alligatorweed to glyphosate and susceptibility to i
mazapyr.
