Abstract
The absorption and translocation of the isopropylamine salts of C-14-g lyphosate and C-14-imazapyr were compared in established terrestrial a lligatorweed. Results indicated that more than twice as much imazapyr as glyphosate was absorbed by treated leaves of alligatorweed. In addi tion, more imazapyr was translocated to the underground storage tissue s in alligatorweed than was glyphosate. This difference in translocati on to roots and subterranean storage tissues is proposed as a mechanis m for tolerance of alligatorweed to glyphosate and susceptibility to i mazapyr.
