We investigate an interplay between superconductivity and Coulomb repu
lsion U in two dimensional Hubbard lattice. The correlations are taken
into account in the two pole version of the mean-field-like approxima
tion for the slave boson fields. The metal-insulator transition takes
place for considerably smaller values of U than in the one pole formul
ation. The qualitative features of the variation of superconducting tr
ansition temperature with hole concentration are correctly reproduced.
We argue in favour of weakly correlated p-like quasiparticles in CuO2
Planes as candidates for an underlying physical system.
