A novel concept of an rf power supply for TeV linear colliders is prop
osed. The rf power source consists of a large number of low-power ampl
ifiers commutated into a phased array antenna. This electronically sca
nned array transmits rf power through the air to the receiving array w
hich feeds accelerating structures and is located in the vicinity of a
n accelerator. Such an approach, using serial rf amplifiers and well d
eveloped phased array antenna technique, enables one to decrease the r
equired peak rf power by three orders of magnitude with respect to the
traditional approach and, furthermore, to increase the overall reliab
ility of the rf system.
