An experimental method is presented for the estimation of angular and
frequency dependencies of the bottom sound reflection coefficient from
measurements of the vertical angular spectrum of a natural noise fiel
d. A way to increase the accuracy of the method by eliminating the dis
tortion of measured noise characteristics, caused by the beam function
of the receiver array, is discussed. Measurements of the angular depe
ndence of the bottom sound reflection coefficient using a 32-element r
eceiver array in various oceanic regions in a frequency band of severa
l kHz are presented.
