AN OPERATIONAL INFORMATION DATABASE BASED ON THE AUTOMATED PROCESSINGOF TIME-SERIES DATA AVAILABLE FROM TELEMETRY CONTROL-SYSTEMS

The paper describes the development and subsequent management of a cen tral database of operational information based largely on the automate d processing of time series data retrieved from the Company's telemetr y control systems. Following the implementation of the system, both th e quality and quantity of processed statistics available to operationa l managers has been greatly enhanced above the level of information or iginally recorded by manual methods. Also significant process modellin g systems have been introduced utilising this information to improve o perational efficiency. Key to the success of the system has been the c omprehensive provision of facilities to quickly and effectively valida te the data, together with the facilities provided to ensure that the configuration of the database accurately matches and tracks configurat ion changes to the field network. The paper examines these functions i n some detail.
