Abstract
This paper reviews and discusses such conditions in which both choline sterases show abnormal activity focusing on better understanding and i nterpretation of laboratory results. In particular, the mechanism of i nteraction of both cholinesterases with their inhibitors such as organ ophosphorus and carbamate compounds is discussed. Some practical recom mendations concerning sampling and preparation of samples for enzyme a ssay are given in order to avoid errors that may affect laboratory fin dings.
