Abstract
This paper reviews the metabolism of high density liporotein (HDL) sub fractions in human plasma. Interconversions of HDL2/HDL3 are described including related factors, such as lipolytic enzymes, lecithin choles terol acyltransferase and lipid transfer protein(s). Special attention is paid to the conversions of apolipoproteinA-specific subpopulations of HDL2 and HDL3, a field intensively studied at present and revealin g a key importance of apolipoproteins for the metabolic fate of lipopr otein particles.
