The rate of corrosion of hardened cement paste in solutions of nitric,
hydrochloric, sulphuric, acetic and formic acids was compared. Corros
ion in solutions of acetic and nitric acids with different concentrati
ons was studied in more detail. The results made it possible to obtain
the relationships expressing the influence of concentration and the t
ime of action of acid solutions on the depth of corrosion. The rates o
f corrosion in nitric acid solutions during the first 3 years were abo
ut 2 to 4 times that in acetic acid solutions, depending on the concen
tration.
