Arachnoid cysts are infrequent causes of spinal stenoses. Rarely are t
hey localised in the cervical spinal canal. Their common clinical pres
entations in childhood and youth are head and neck pain, spastic parap
aresis and lower motor neuron lesions in the arms with loss of sensati
on. In a patient presenting with these symptoms arachnoid cysts should
be part of differential diagnosis. We present a surgically proven cas
e of a particularly rare anterior cervical arachnoid cyst, with only e
ight other cases reported so far.
