The adsorption of different bases (ammonia, n-butylamine, tert-butylam
ine, pyridine) in gas phase on solid acidic catalysts (silica-alumina
and HY zeolite catalysts and a silica gel) has been studied. By combin
ing the adsorption results obtained by calorimetry and thermogravimetr
y, the acidic strength distribution of the solids is determined. For t
he acidity strength distribution measurement, tertbutylamine has a goo
d behaviour and is an alternative base to ammonia.
