Abstract
The far-field of several PbSe/PbEuSe buried heterostructure (BH) laser diodes has been measured. An algorithm for the calculation of the pro pagation constant and transverse mode function of waveguide structures has been used to calculate the near- and far-field pattern. The theor etical and experimental results are presented and compared with each o ther. Polarization measurements in the far-field show simultaneous emi ssion of transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) modes f rom some of the laser diodes.
