Abstract
A mathematical model of the transmembrane ionic transport system with two steady states is considered. Varying low frequency electric field can cause a transition from one state to the other or initiate the osc illations between the two steady stales which induce a corresponding t hreshold change in the pH value and in the ionic concentration, or pH oscillations near the membrane.
