Abstract
Seven beef cow processing facilities in the western United States were surveyed for fluke-related liver damage. A total of 1,913 beef cow li vers were examined in the survey representing beef cows from 15 states . Of these, 368 livers were positive for liver flukes. The overall pre valence rate was much greater than those rates found in previous surve ys of livers from fed cattle. These data support the need for dissemin ation of information regarding current knowledge of cattle liver fluke prevalence to producers, veterinarians, and other industry specialist s.
