Abstract
New aromatic polyesters with rigid quinoline units in the chain have b een synthesized in order to investigate the possibility of generating materials that exhibit liquid crystalline behaviour in the melt. Simil ar materials containing 2,6-naphthalene units in the chain have also b een prepared and compared with the quinoline polymers.
