Abstract
An exhaustive study of the behaviour in supercritical fluid extraction of eight PAHs in real samples of soil compared to spiked samples in s ilica has been carried out. The presence of a modifier is mandatory fo r quantitative extraction of the native analytes, but is unnecessary i n spiked samples. The type and volume of modifier to be added and the sample-modifier contact time were optimized and the influence of the p article size assessed.
