Abstract
Accurate thermal expansion coefficient alpha(p), speed-of-sound and de nsity measurements found in the literature have been used to character ize the general behavior with pressure of the constant pressure heat c apacity C(p) of benzene and toluene. The results agree well with direc t measurements of C(p) found in the literature. Indirect methods for e stimating C(p) at high pressures are discussed. Alpha(p) results obtai ned with an expansion technique using a differential method have been used to characterize the high-pressure behavior of C(p) for mesitylene .
