Abstract
Barium Auger parameters correlate linearly with fractional ionic chara cter, defined by simple electronegativity concepts. More fundamentally , the variation in Auger parameter is quantitatively associated with l igand polarization energy E(p), resulting from the interaction of the polarizable ligand with the barium core hole coulombic field. This pap er demonstrates the Ba2+ Auger parameter correlations, and is compleme ntary to work published previously in this journal (C. L. Berrie and M . A. Langell, Surf. Interface Anal. 17, 635 (1991)).
