B. Kensley, RECORDS OF SHALLOW-WATER MARINE ISOPODS FROM BERMUDA WITH DESCRIPTIONS OF 4 NEW SPECIES, Journal of crustacean biology, 14(2), 1994, pp. 319-336
An extensive collection of marine isopods from the Peabody Museum, Yal
e University, taken from 114 collecting stations on Bermuda, is report
ed. The collection adds 10 new records to the list of known Bermudan i
sopods, including two undescribed species, Mesanthura bermudensis and
Joeropsis nigricapitis. These two species can be recognized initially
by their distinctive pigment patterns. Fresh material shows Anthomuda
stenotelson Schultz to be a junior synonym of Anthelura affinis Richar
dson. Also included in the report are the descriptions of two new spec
ies collected from a cave, Munnogonium somersensis and Stenobermuda il
iffei. The latter, which exhibits protogynous hermaphroditism, is show
n to be a member of the Gnathostenetroididae.
