A. Barletta et E. Zanchini, TIME-AVERAGED TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION IN A CYLINDRICAL RESISTOR WITHALTERNATING-CURRENT, Warme- und Stoffubertragung, 29(5), 1994, pp. 285-290
The non-uniform heat generation in a cylindrical resistor crossed by a
n alternating electric current is considered. The time averaged and di
mensionless temperature distribution in the resistor is analytically e
valuated. Two dimensionless functions are reported in tables which all
ow one to determine the time averaged temperature field for arbitraril
y chosen values of the physical properties and of the radius of the re
sistor, of the electric current frequency, of the Biot number and of e
ither the power generated per unit length or the effective electric cu
rrent.
