We report our preliminary experience in the surgical construction of f
ive experimental bifurcation and terminal aneurysm models in swine. We
used unilateral neck vessels to construct models in which the relativ
e directions and sizes of the parent and daughter arteries could be va
ried by surgery, resulting in aneurysms with high morphologic similari
ty to human intracranial lesions. Steps in the construction of each mo
del are detailed.
