Abstract
A complete solution is given to the Cartesian problem: Given the fuzzy sets A subset-of U, B subset-of V, and B' subset-of V, find all fuzzy sets A' subset-of U such that A'degrees(A x B) = B', where degrees de notes the max-min composition. This work is an extension of the work b y Pappis [Fuzzy Sets and Systems 26 (1988) 387-391] and Kim et al. [Fu zzy Sets and Systems 41 (1901) 293-297].
